The force of a block of marble

Each single element, directly created from quarried blocks of marble, is polished and carved both by hand as well as advanced machine technology. The final product looks as if shaped by nature itself, and yet the millennial long tradition of the hand of the craftsman is evident in the final product.

Goccia is part of the barbeCUBE system, initially proposed by Alberto Franchi, who worked in collaboration with Archizero Studio to design and develop a sectional modular scheme of four marble elements.

The black Zebrino version of the design was presented at Verona Marmomacc 2012 and at Interni – HYBRID ARCHITECTURE&DESIGN on the occasion of Milan's Design Week 2013,  as part of the the SenSai installation.

The four blocks of black Zebrino include iCube and Goccia washbasins (with Gessi stainless steel taps and fittings), a kitchen counter top, and a Teppanyaki outdoor gas grill.

The irregular, jagged-shaped washbasin element is carved by hand, featuring two connected sinks shaped as drops and recalling water erosion over the centuries — an idea of designer Michele Cozzani, who sketched it directly at the quarry site, Goccia washbasin was carved by Erik Malau.
